Bunsen is still a few months away from being ready to go but, in the meantime, you can browse the list of Bunsen quick facts below or like Bunsen on Facebook to insure you’re the first one on your block (or in your country) to get the latest Bunsen news or to get access to the beta version when it is released.

The release of v002 Syphon, a graphics card level protocol for passing full-resolution/frame-rate video content between software applications has begun something of a revolution in terms of the proliferation of multi-application playback and processing techniques. MadMapper was the first Syphon based application that truly embraces the notion that a program can focus on one step of the projection process and do it really well but since its introduction no other program has followed suite. Bunsen has a quite similar attitude. Each of the nine applications within Bunsen focus on a single step of the projection process with a goal of provide simple, clean, stable service in this area. They can be used together and in combination with any other Syphon enabled program or in conjunction with programs that are not natively compatible with Syphon but that support Quartz Composer.

Quick Facts

  • Bunsen is powered by Quartz Composer and written entirely in Mac native development environments to insure that it offers the same level of efficiency and stability that Mac users are accustomed to.

  • Bunsen Align provides several different alignment grids in your choice of resolution and aspect ratio.

  • Bunsen Play is a cue stack based playback engine with eight simultaneous playback layers for video and image files.

  • Bunsen Titler creates still and animated text content.

  • Bunsen Process provides commonly used effects and geometric manipulations for image content.

  • Bunsen Combine tiles eight seperate video feeds into one Syphon output to be sent to programs like MadMapper that only support a single simultaneous input.

  • Bunsen Control is a cue stack based show control system designed to control the other Bunsen apps running on one or more computers as well as to allow them to interface with other control programs like QLab. Control LE (included with all Bunsen applications) is exclusively used to interface the other Bunsen applications with any program capable of outputting MIDI or OSC.

  • Content is easily sent from other programs to Bunsen and on to a different program through Syphon or one of several included Quartz compositions for use with programs like Isadora and QLab.

  • No knowledge of Quartz Composer is needed to use Bunsen.

  • Compact interface helps Bunsen to conveniently co-exist with other programs without requiring dual programer monitors.

  • A fully featured demo version of each Bunsen application is available. The only limitation is a watermark on the output.

  • Bunsen applications can be purchased individually or in discounted packages.

  • Bunsen licenses permit use on an unlimited number of computers as long as they are all owned by the same institution or individual.

  • Fully functional educational institution licenses of Bunsen are available at discounted rate for secondary schools, colleges and universities.
